wildlife, nature, and bugs

A big part of the Tiny Haven experience is being close to nature.

This means there will be wildlife and acts of nature that we cannot control. We have seen bears, snakes, deer, raccoons, groundhogs on both of our properties. Please do not leave trash outside and please do not leave food inside the dome or tents (except in the designated sealed storage containers) to prevent unwanted animal guests.

Also, please note that there may/will be bugs!

While the majority of the time our tiny homes have very minimal insect friends, sometimes they do randomly show up. The most common are harmless - shield/stink bugs, ants, and lady bugs. We do use ant traps and other natural bug repellants, but there is not much we can do if they want to get inside except catch them (particularly the shield/stink bugs, which are most prevalent during the transition weather in spring and fall). Sometimes there are no bugs, sometimes just a few bugs, and sometimes there can be quite a lot. We do what we can to prevent bug parties, but we cannot predict or control if that happens during your stay. Our spaces are camping or glamping spaces, some are vintage, not perfectly sealed, or the bugs just find a way in regardless, so please be aware of this prior to booking. We do not give refunds if you find bugs.

Acts of Nature

When you are staying in any of our spaces, there is always a risk of inclement weather or acts of nature (such as trees falling, etc). We do our very best to keep our spaces safe, but know that you are taking a risk when staying in these alternative spaces, particularly the glamping tents and dome.

inclement weather and utilities

Tiny Haven is in a semi-rural area and occasionally we can experience power outages. Our tiny homes and airstreams are connected to back up generators and will have full power in the event of an outage. If for some reason, even the back up generators go out, we will stay in communication with you regarding when the power should come back on.

We do not offer refunds for inclement weather or power outages.

when you depart

Please do the following when you depart:

  • Please wash all of your dishes, including grill utensils. Leave the dishes on the dish rack on the counter or dry them and put them away. Do not put away wet or dirty dishes.

  • Please close all windows and lock doors when you leave for an outing and when you depart (tent guests, please zip all the windows and door, including the bottom of the door). This is especially to keep rain and bugs out and to keep our spaces secure.

  • Dispose of all trash and recycle in the designated bins

  • If there is a patio umbrella at your space, please close it and tie it shut (otherwise it may blow away)

  • In the cold months, please leave the heat on. (Space heater in airstreams, mini-split in tiny homes)

  • Please return the key.

Please remember all of your belongings

We do not mail belongings back to guests due to past issues with this practice. If you do accidentally leave something, please contact us and we will let you know where our lost and found is.

Release of Liability

You also agree when booking that you hold harmless Tiny Haven, its owners and employees, and the owners and employees of the properties. We are not responsible for theft, damage or loss to or of your personal property, personal injury, or death. You agree to conduct yourself in a peaceful manner and to abide by these rental agreements when staying here.
